Igniting a Nation to Deliver – Panel Discussion

Paul Bannister, Acting CEO of IMC, is now facilitating the next panel discussion themed: Igniting the nation to deliver.

The panelists include:

  • Rich Mkhondo: 2010 Fifa World Cup organising committee
  • Derek Carstens: 2010 Fifa World Cup organising committee
  • Mvuzo Mbebe: SABC
  • Wendy Tlou: South African Tourism (SAT)
  • Kwakye Donkor: Regional Tourism Organisation of Southern Africa (Retosa)
  • Themba Maseko: Government Communications & Information System (GCIS)
  • Vish Naidoo: South African Police Services
  • Dr. Nikolaus Eberl, Nation of Champions
  • David Smith: Foreign Correspondents Associatio

Some take-outs:

  • FIFA: the preparations are ready. We need to communicate that to the people.
  • SABC: we want to communicate a simple message: your front seat to the event. Where-ever you are, we will give you a signal.
  • SAT: launched Diski dance campaign 2 days ago domestically. South Africans should learn the dance.
  • RETOSA: We will leverage whole of Southern Africa to market the event.
  • GCIS: Government supports the event because it gives us the opportunity to unite South Africans and to use the opportunity to market SA and the continent to the world.
  • SAPS: we expect challenges from a language and cultural perspective with regards to the international visitors. We will be bringing police from other countries here to patrol in their uniforms and to assist.
  • Dept of Transport: Bits of the Gautrain will be ready
  • David Smith: international media are still shocked when coming to South Africa for the first time. International media hates being fobbed off and not getting through to a media office when making an enquiry.

I would like to make contact with Paul Bannister re ‘igniting the Nation.
i have written a unique book titled ‘ON THE BALL’ – getting to know you.
Dereck Carstens,Sugen Pillay, Monde Mkalipi,Esther Mgotsi and others are aware of its ‘igniting value’ and yet except for S.A. Tourism I have not made any progress with any of the other role players.
I have had excellent reviews in a few newspapers and
the book is available at Exclusive Books and other bookshops.
I know that it can make a difference, particularly empowering people with knowledge and facilitating meaningful interaction.

As Dr. Irvin Khoza has indicated that he doesn’t feel the vibe that there’s a huge world event in the country, during his opening remarks at the conference. We need to engage management vigorously in the campaigns to showcase the communication and marketing skills that Africa posseses through this show piece. So that their buy-in can unleash the potential skills, experience and experties of communicators in the country across sectors. Furthermore, involvement of the targeted audience and beyond would ensure that our messages reach audience far and wide. Ultimately, Dr. Khoza and others will then continue to feel the 2010 world cup vibe in town.

  3. To market in terms of quality rather than price, and in order to differentiate accordingly, you need to follow the standard format of the 4 P

  4. There often obviously a lot to know about this. I think you produced some extremely points in Features also. Retain working, good job!
